Songs for Ramblers

  • Sheffield Central Library (The Carpenter Room) Surrey Street Sheffield, England, S1 1XZ United Kingdom (map)

Have you ever felt like singing as you strolled or wheeled along footpaths and bridleways?

Then come along to this FREE workshop https://forms.gle/3WSBJVYr6txAgbKv8

Abbi Flint will share brief highlights from new research into historical connections between singing and being on paths, with a special focus on the Sheffield Clarion Ramblers, but the main focus of the workshop will be singing. Rosie Hodgson will help us bring the past into the present through teaching us a selection of songs from the 1922 Sheffield Clarion Ramblers songbook "Songs for Ramblers to Sing on the Moorlands".

As the founder of the Sheffield Clarion Ramblers G.H.B. Ward said "Be you merry all the way and let us sing!"

No previous singing experience is required, and you don’t need to be able to read music. All (over 18s) are welcome, and all songs will be learnt by ear in a supportive way.

The workshop is FREE but places are limited and must be booked here: https://forms.gle/3WSBJVYr6txAgbKv8

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Come along if you're interested in history, folksong, or footpaths.
